28th March 2021 @ 10:00 am
Sunday 28 Mar 2021
First Race: Half Marathon @ 1000
2nd Race: 5K at 1020
We hope to run this as a normal race, Covid willing! But in the event restrictions are still on, we’ll set the races off as timed run races, using our chipped Race|Result 12 equipment, with ‘wave’ start times – the initial Half Marathon runners setting off at 0930.
Should government / local restrictions stop us from holding the Dash in March – we will refund your entrance fees, but minus any expenses we’ve incurred: PayPal deductions (for both payment-in and returns), costs of medals, trophies & T-shirts (these items will only be bought at the last possible moment).
The Caythorpe Dash – Half Marathon (single or Team) is a part-marshaled / part-signed, multi-terrain run through the picturesque Lincolnshire countryside which takes in tracks, bridle paths, footpaths and minor roads in the rural Trent valley. After leaving Caythorpe you descend 200 ft into the Trent valley on an old drovers trail; the next 9 miles are on fairly flat terrain (3.5 miles on minor roads, the rest on tracks & footpaths), before climbing 140 ft back onto the Lincolnshire ridge and ridge running 2.5 miles back to Caythorpe (2 miles on minor roads); the total ascent is 422 ft. Teams of 4 competitors, consisting of 2 women and 2 men.
Age limit: 16 upwards.
Online Entry: £20
The Caythorpe Dash – 5K is a fully-marshaled, multi-terrain run up and down the Lincolnshire ridge with great views of the Trent valley. After leaving Caythorpe you descend 56m in 1K into the Trent valley, then run 2K on a farm track onto Wheatgrass Lane, an old drovers trail, climbing 50m back up to Caythorpe; the total ascent is 61m.
Age limit: 12 upwards; 12 to 15s must have parent running in this race. Online Entry: 16+ £7 ; 12 to 15s £3
Canicross, running with your dog(s), is most acceptable; all we ask is that you start at the back of the grid and that the dog is kept on a lead.
Both races will be run on ‘Chip Time’.
There are full changing / showering facilities in the Hammond Pavilion, bag drop (2 locked rooms), free parking and free light refreshments after the race. Your live result will be emailed to you as you cross the finish line, live race results are also displayed in the pavilion and will be available on the web in Race|Result.
All half marathon competitors will receive a medal and a goody bag with a Tech T-shirt; 5K competitors will receive a medal with a certificate available to download. Trophies will be awarded to the top 3 female and male finishers in both races as well as the top three Teams in the half marathon; additionally, the top three 12 to 15 year olds, both female and male, will also get trophies in the 5K.
The run is in aid of the Caythorpe Playing Fields – all monies will be given to support the Playing Fields and the many sporting / community events held there.
